Clocked mileage – how to spot the fraud

Interior wear, control-unit records and databases – how we detect odometer tampering.

Odometer tampering is still one of the most common used-car frauds.

What to look at: steering wheel, pedal and driver seat wear that does not match the mileage, replaced interior parts, missing service history, mileage stored in the car control units and entries in databases and inspection records.

During an inspection we read mileage from several control units and compare it with the paperwork – any mismatch is a red flag.
